Epson say the Stylus SX218 is the answer for taking control of all your home document and photo printing. The device offers the functionality of three machines, a printer, a scanner and a photocopier, in one compact package. The Stylus SX218 also has additional features like a built-in card reader which allows you to print photos directly off a memory card. The photo prints the Stylus SX218 produces are very good for a printer in this price range that is thanks to its micro piezo print head which can print at 5760 x 1440 dpi on suitable media. Another contributing factor to the SX218’s quality prints are the Epson ink cartridges. The Epson SX218 ink cartridges come in the form of four separate ink cartridges, one for each of the colours, these printer inks can be purchased individually or in a full set in a multi-pack. The only weak point the Stylus SX218 has and this is true for most Epson printers is the speed in which it prints is slow and also the noise level produced when printing to higher than average. Epson say that the SX218 is capable of printing 35 A4 pages per minute however this is nowhere near the actual speed the printer is capable of. On the whole the Epson Stylus SX218 is a good all rounder but there is room for improvement.
